  We thought last year that we could not get any closer when the 2013 REIS Gold Star championship ended in a tie, but that was just what happened again in 2014 with Steve Perez and Paul Birdboth ending up with 173 points and it needed the ultimate tie breaker of the 7th event before the title was decided in favour of Steve.  The entire season decided on the final event by just 12 secs. Conversely the Gold Star Co-drivers title goes to Aled Davies ahead of Paul Spooner because Paul did an extra event back in March.   (One consolation for Paul Bird was that his British Superbike Team rider Shane 'Shakey' Byrne won the British Championship at Brands Hatch the following day)
 

Steve Perez and Richard Hill made hay under in the North York Moors sunshine as they shared the major spoils at the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire on Saturday (September 27th).

Unseasonably warm and bright weather greeted almost 160 crews contesting the Trackrod Historic Cup, for vehicles dating between the 1960s and mid-eighties, and the Trackrod Forest Stages - a completely separate rally - which includes more modern cars.

SG Petch Tour of Hamsterley 2014

  

Matt Edwards and Kim Baker scored a fine victory on yesterday's SG Petch Tour of Hamsterley historic rally (Saturday 26 April), the third round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship.

The 45-mile event made use of the Hamsterley forest complex as well as the mixed surface stage at Raby Castle and it was Edwards who took control from the start, despite feeling unwell. Edwards and Baker went into the final loop of three stages just 12s up on the similar Ford Escort Mk2 of Matthew Robinson/Sam Collis, but when Robinson hit electrical dramas on the penultimate stage, Edwards was clear of Nick Elliott/Dave Price by 47s.
Riponain Forest Rally 2014

 

 

 

The organising team would like to extend their thanks to all of those who gave us the opportunity to run the 2014 Riponian.

Firstly a very big thank you to all the Stage Commanders, Marshals and Officials who kept the event on schedule working in some testing conditions, especially during setting up the stages and during the early part of the event. Secondly a big thank you to all competitors who supported the event, and it was nice to see many regulars back to accept the challenge that the forests had on offer, commiserations to those of you who failed to make it to the finish.Finally a very big thank you to all the stage sponsors and advertisers in the event regulations, without your generous support the event could not have taken place.
